I was in a stall in the bathroom at the beach and my pill case fell out of my bag and of course, opened and spilled the contents on the floor before I could get what I needed out of it. Yes, I did pick it up and take it. What's a little sand mixed in gonna do to me? Nothing! |

In fact about the only case where I wouldn't eat it is if it fell in the cat's litter box. Quote: Originally Posted by myrc60 Judging from the dirty pail of water from the kitchen yesterday, VERY! Yes, I did pick it up and take it. What's a little sand mixed in gonna do to me? Nothing! Ok maybe not here. The floor of a public bathroom makes the cat's litter box look like an ideal location to prepare things I ingest. Sand was the least of your problems. Yuck. |

Believe me, I did consider not taking it but didn't want to suffer the consequences! As it was, nothing has happened to me after doing so. |

Rush to pick it up before the pets do, wipe it on my sleeve or use a paper towel if I feel like it, then pop it in the mouth! Remember that research has shown that people who are anal about rinsing things off and using hand sanitizer for every little thing are the ones who get sick the most. Now, if this happened at work (I'm a nurse) I absolutely WOULD NOT pick it up and give it to a patient. We ALWAYS have someone witness us disposing it (for narcotics) and sign to state all that was done, and then get a fresh pill out for the patient. |

| There is NO reason to throw the pill away unless it fell INTO something liquid like bleach or Comet scrubbing powder or something. On a normal even dirty household floor. Now, I'm a dog walker/pet sitter so I have to leave my shoes at the door or that pill might fall onto something you don't want to think about LOL. |

| I just pick it up and eat it. My floors are clean enough. |

| I pray I can pick it up before the dog gets to it so I have to fight her for it, wipe it off and take it. |

| Depends on the pill, and where it landed. Assuming I were at home, if it landed on the main part of the floor (which is clean) I would just pick it up, check to make sure it's clean, maybe wipe it in a towel to dust it off and then take it. If it rolled under something and got dusty, I'd probably just toss it, unless it were something really expensive or critical, in which case I'd try to dust it off to clean it. If I were in a public place I'd be much more inclined to toss it unless it were something pretty critical. I know my floor is clean, who knows about the rest of the world! |

| You'd be surprised what's already inside your stomach from what you've been eating, so a pill on the floor would not necessarily be bad picked up and taken. Just wipe it off. Most prescription pills are outrageously expensive these days. Touching a dollar bill then putting food in your mouth is much worse. |

I have stayed in five star hospitals and had them give me dropped medication. |
